Gutleutviertel is a central city district in Frankfurt-am-Main, It is part of the "Innenstadt" area and lies between the main central station (Hauptbahnhof) and the banks of the Main river. In the west it is delineated by the power station and highway and on the east by the main throughfare Baseler strasse / Friedens bridge. Past the east you will find the Bahnhofsviertel and to the north and west Gallus. There are approximately 5.200 inhabitants according to a 2004 census. With 70% of them immigrants, it is the social hotbed of the city. Even today it is the subject of heated debate on city planning.

While the name Gutleut hints at "Good people" (the direct translation), it actually comes from Gutleuthof, a lepra patients hospital that was located there in 1286.

Near the end of the 19 century, people start to arrive in the area, even though it was never meant as residential area. By 1984 there were about 6000 inhabitants. 20% were children and 70% immigrants. At that time, the government decided to "sanitize" the area using state financial help.

2004 saw an enlargement of the area up until the Westhafen. This in execution of a 1993 ordinance. 30% of the new houses are to be social (council) houses. The project was planned to be finished by 2006. Over 1600 people are planned to live there. There are also commercial and office buildings.

The old "Hafenmole" is home to 12 luxury appartment buildings, each 5 stories high.
