Hausen is a north western district of Frankfurt-Am-Main. It has approximately 6000 inhabitants. 150px-Mk_Frankfurt_Karte_HausenHausen is bordered by Praunheim in the north west and through the Industrial area Bockenheim. THe public park Niddatal separates it from Ginnheim. Towards the south west are the Nidda river and the Rödelheim district.

Hausen is predominantly a residential area and has both an older city centre and newer developments. North of the A66 highway is a development that started out in the 1920-ties. It was enlarged in the 70-ties with new builds and several high rises. it is currently named after honorary mayor Willi Brundert.

The area east of the Am Hohen Weg strasse received a make over since the 60-ties. Note that westly of Hausen is a development called "development Westhausen". This is not part of Hausen though.

Another common mistake made is that the commercial area "Industriehof" is actually located in Bockenheim and not Hausen.

The Ludwig-Landmann-Strasse is an important throughfare for Frankfurt. It also has an onramp to the A66 highway. Hausen is connected to the U-Bahn via lines U6 and U7. There are also the omnibus lines 34, 72 and 73 that connect hausen to Bockenheim, Praunhei and Rödelheim as well as to the NordWestZentrum, a large shopping centre. You can find some more non-commercial information here.

There are several schools in the area. There is the elementary and secondary school Kerschensteinerschule. It opened in 1954 and currently occupies 3 buildings and a gymnastics hall. It is located in the old city centre. The next gymnasium (Grammar school, High school) is in the Westhausen development (see note above). Nordweststadt is home to the Ernst-Reuter-Schulen. These are combination Gesamtschule (state secondary school) and higher gymnasium. Because of the good transportation, you can also use the Bettinaschule (gymnasium) in the Westend district. Lastly, for higher education there are the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität for theology and arts and the  Max-Planck-Institut für europäische Rechtsgeschichte (law) universities / institutes.

Culturally, Hausen is quite active. Every 2 years it organizes a big district part on the grounds of the Kerschensteinerschule. Also every 2 years, there is a big christmas market. They are both organized by the Arbeitskreis ("work circle") Hausen. This is supra organization of all the associations active in Hausen. In 2005 it received the city price for outstanding activities.

Worth of mention here is the Brotfabrik. This is a locally famous cultural centre. It was started as an industrial bakery in 1888 and remained in operation until 1972. The building was converted for its current use in 1981. Besides these there are several more sports clubs as well.
