Frankfurt has lots to offer to shoppers.
The Zeil, once the high end of shopping in Germany, or even Europe for that matter has never regained it's former prestige since it was last destroyed in the war. It still is however the center to be for department stores, shoe shops, fashion and furniture.
The Kleinmarkthalle (covered marketplace) is like an international grocery store.
The Hauptwache has an above ground and underground area. You'll find books, cloths, sporting goods, travel agencies, flowers, tobacconists, banks and groceries.
The Schillerstrasse is also a pedestrian zone, like the Zeil. It's between the Hauptwache and the Eschenheimer Turm (close to the Stock Exchange). You'll find many elegant boutiques there.
The Goethestrasse has many exclusive boutiques.
Parallel is the Bockenheimerstrasse, with many wine dealers, butcher shops and delicatessen.
Opernplatz has many restaurants and bars.
The BFG tower has several floors of high end boutiques and restaurants. It is located on the Rossmarkt, which runs from downtown to the main railwaystation (Hauptbahnhof).
The Kaiserstrasse has a large collection of clothing, audio/video and photo stores, in adition to it's more "nightly pleasures" oriented outlets.
The Dusseldorferstrasse is known for it's fur trade. You'll find it opposite the Goetheplatz.
The Braubachstrasse has a good collection of old books, antique and art dealers. These can also be found in Alt-Sachenhausen. It is also there that the weekly Frankfurter flea Markt takes place every Saturday fom 8am until 2pm. It is situated along the river.
